The concert “In memoriam” for the 20th anniversary of the Beslan tragedy took place on the 10th September at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater branch in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
The Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater Branch under direction of Zaurbek Gugkaev performed Mehdi Hosseini’s Marsiehâ-ye Khâk for orchestra and electronics among other participating composers, like Dzerassa Dzlieva, Anton Lubchenko, Galina Ziganova, Elizaveta Panchenko, Alina Novikova and Alexander Stepanov.
“In Memoriam” is a seven-part literary and musical composition based on the texts and poems of children who found themselves being taken hostage school by terrorists who seized the school. The key initiative in creating the symphonic cycle was due to the creative and organizational activity by the author of the project idea, the composer Dzerassa Dzlieva. This cycle was created by invited composers for the 10th anniversary of the tragedy and was first performed in 2014 as part of the project of at the North Caucasus Center for Contemporary Art.
