Annotation:
The article describes the history of formation of and clarifies the meaning of the term Magam. It shows the many meanings and aspects of understanding (of the genre, the thematic makeup from song, the magham sound-set structure, etc). It covers the ancient Persian expert judgments about magma (Avicenna, Faraba, Safiaddin, Urmava and others). It demonstrates a European notational translation of the tablets and graphics compiled by these Persian experts. As a result, the article establishes that of the fixed 17 – 24 sounds in the octave it turns out that not more than 7 – 8 are actually functional degrees. The remaining degrees are just higher variations. In the fundamental analysis of the material, the article claims that there is an unmistakable similarity and relatedness of the underlying laws of the organization of Eastern and Western monophonic music.

Статья описывает историю становления и уточняет содержание термина Магам. Показывает многозначность и многоаспектность понятия (жанр, попевочно-тематический состав, ладо-звукорядная структура , etc). Приводит суждения о магаме древних персидских ученых (Авиценны, Фараби, Сафиаддина Урмави … и др.). Демонстрирует составленные этими учеными таблицы и графики звуков с переводом их на европейскую нотацию. Как результат устанавливает, что в шкале из фиксируемых 17-24-х звучаний (в октаве) функционально действительных ступеней оказывается не более 7-8. Остальным являются лишь их высотными вариантами. На основании анализа материала утверждает несомненной аналогичности и родственности глубинных законов организации Восточной и Западной монодической музыки.
